Write down the reason
Before buying, explain in one sentence why the investment might grow. Include the evidence, your intended time horizon and what could go wrong. A rising price alone is not a business case.
Choose a review trigger
A change in company results, debt, management or your own goals may justify a review. A short-term fall alone does not always invalidate a long-term investment, but it should not be ignored.
Plan your exposure
Choose how much of your available investment money you are willing to expose to one company. Consider how several holdings might move together in a downturn.
Review without chasing
Compare the latest facts with your original reason. Fees, tax and currency changes can affect the outcome of a sale. Keep your own research notes and check original company announcements before making a decision.
Sources and further reading
Provider settings and financial products can change. Check original sources before acting. These guides explain concepts and do not recommend individual investments.
